Otter Valley rotary club make Grenfell Tower donation.

THE Rotary Club of Otter Valley recently held collections across the area to raise money for the Grenfell Disaster Fund.

The collections took place at Tesco’s Honiton, McColls in West Hill and Sainsbury’s in Pinhoe and the Rotary Club  has revealed how generous residents were that club members were being thanked for doing the collection.

Greg Layzell, Rotary Club of Otter Valley president said: “The total raised was £3,040 which we are most grateful for and will be a great help for the people of Grenfell.

“I have been in contact with Graeme Howard of Kensington and Chelsea Rotary Club; they will make sure that the funds raised will go to the best suited needs.

“I recently went up to Grenfell Tower. It was the most eerie place I had visited; the site was cordoned off for about 100m all the way around, there was all different forms of memorials and pictures attached to the fencing.

“As I walked around it struck me how quiet everything was. There were hundreds of people filing past and reading all the memorials but no one was saying a word, even the cars going past were going so slow you could not hear the engines.

“I placed a bunch or flowers and a note saying that our thoughts and prayers were with them from the people of the Otter Valley and Rotary.”
