BRIDPORT community stalwart Jo O’Farrell has been named in the 2018 New Year’s Honours list and will be awarded an MBE.
She will receive the prestigious title for services to the community.
Jo helped to set up The Living Tree in October 2012, a self-help group for people living with cancer, which launched the Stepping Out cancer rehabilitation programme at Bridport Leisure Centre, as well as organising the annual fundraising MusicAthon and working with Pathways to Care, which operates the Good Neighbours Scheme.
She was also awarded a Beacon of Hope award by the Lymphoma Association in November after receiving nine nominations.
Jo said: “Thank you everybody. I feel quite overwhelmed by this award and the kind comments and generous responses from so many people.”
