Liquid nitrogen leak in Ilminster

DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service engines from Ilminster, Chard and Taunton – and a Hazardous Material advisor – were all sent to a report of a gas leak at a commercial premises in Ilminster at around 3am this morning.

On arrival crews identified a small leak on the bottom of a tank containing liquid nitrogen. Crews used a gas monitor to check for any other leaks and set up a corden.

Crews waited for on site maintenance team to turn up, who then isolated the plant and all associated tanks.
