JAZZ Jurassica, Lyme Regis’s first pop up jazz supper club, is about to launch its second season in the town next month. Coming hot on the heels of last year’s sell-out series, organisers say they’ll continue the winning formula of top class jazz to banish winter blues in the cooler part of the year.
The new programme, which starts on October 14th and runs to March 10th, promises a menu of jazz, blues, swing and funk, featuring locally and nationally acclaimed performers, combined with a two-course supper for the ultimate Saturday night out.
The forthcoming season welcomes a wealth of talent starting with the Louise Parker Quartet (October 14), Fliss Gorst Quartet with Canadian singer, Lauren Bush (December 9), Leigh Coleman with Matt Carter Trio (January 13), Maggie Reeday Quartet (February 10) and Duncan Anselm Quartet with guitar maestro, Nigel Price (March 10).
On November 11th, Jazz Jurassica and Marine Theatre, with support from the town’s branch of The Royal British Legion, host a special concert, ‘We’ll Meet Again’, by Swing Unlimited Big Band, which celebrates the Remembrance weekend with war-time swing classics in a moving and uplifting tribute.
Julie Sheppard, Jazz Jurassica director said, “We hope our programme will continue to appeal to all music lovers by providing something different for a memorable evening’s entertainment. When we first set up Jazz Jurassica last year we had no idea it would prove so popular but the entire series sold out very quickly.
“This year we’ll be using two different venues – The Bay before Christmas and then Marine Theatre after Christmas when The Bay is closed for renovation. But our winning formula remains the same – a good Saturday night out combining great music and delicious food for an inclusive ticket price (£22). And of course, we still have the unbeatable seaside setting of Lyme Bay ….Ronnie Scott’s eat your heart out!”
Booking in advance is essential because of limited capacity. Full programme information and how to buy tickets from www.lymeregisjazzfestival .co.uk/jazz-jurassica/. A printed programme and tickets are also available from Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre on 01297 442138.
