CULT comedy hero and TV and radio regular Ian Boldsworth headlines the next Lyme Regis Comedy club at the Pilot Boat Inn on Saturday, March 11th.
Ian, formerly known as ‘Ray Peacock’, is a circuit favourite known for his outrageous tales of being a bit ‘naughty’ and getting himself in to trouble, getting himself sacked from just about everywhere he’s worked. As a performer he has appeared on shows such as Not Going Out, Russell Howard’s Good News and Doctor Who, had sell out Edinburgh Fringe Festival show,s and toured the country both as a solo act and with his former double act partner, Mock the Week regular Ed Gamble. Ian is perhaps best known though for his success in the world of radio and podcasting where he has had a series of shows that have received critical acclaim and regularly topped the itunes charts, including the Peacock and Gamble podcast, the Mental pod and most recently, the Parapod.
Opening the show will be one of the circuit’s most unique comic talents, Phil Lucas. Phil combines silly jokes, with surreal powerpoint presentations and ridiculous musical interludes to create an act that is like Harry Hill having a breakdown. Phil has made local and national press on numerous occassions for his off the wall comedic stunts that include, at the tame end, trying to sell a Kate Garraway photo collection through a postcard in a newsagents window. A true marmite act, Phil Lucas will either drive you mad or be the funniest thing you see this year. Completing the line up will be two local rising stars of the comedy scene, Richard James and Marcus Gill. Both Exeter based, Marcus is a popular act on the comic book convention circuit as a self confessed nerd and former Pokemon UK champion; Richard is a lovable westcountry fop who delights in the weirdness of his homeland. As ever local comic and resident compere Tom Glover will host the show.
The comedy club returns at 8pm on Saturday, March 11th at the Pilot Boat Inn in Lyme Regis. Tickets for the show are £8 and are available on the door. However, to avoid disappointment, you are advised to get your tickets in advance direct from the Pilot Boat Inn or reserve them on 01297 443157.
