FIREFIGHTERS had to come to the rescue after an 18-month-old baby was accidentally locked in a car.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the alarm was raised shortly after 10.30am on Saturday (June 17th) to the car park at the Waitrose store in South Street, Crewkerne.

One fire engine from Crewkerne was mobilised after getting a call from the mother of the child who said that the baby had been accidentally locked in her vehicle along with the keys.

“Shortly after arriving at the scene we were able to release the baby unharmed by breaking one of the windows and into the care of her mother,” added the fire service spokesman.
