‘Different Thinking’ exhibition

ARTIST Richard Webster with one of his portraits – the viewer is to guess the subjects

Running at Axminster Arts Café until July 2nd, ‘Different Thinking’ is an exhibition of portraits of notable creative people, most of whom have autism, Asperger’s or OCD to some degree.

The artist, Richard Webster, intends his images to highlight the importance, to ourselves and our society, of all kinds of different thinking at a time when the arts are underfunded, creativity is diminishing in the school curriculum and the X-Factor model is accepted as a norm for shaping contemporary philosophy.

The portraits will be untitled but two lists, one of the names and one of the achievements of those portrayed, will be displayed separately.

It is for the viewer to match the three elements in any way they choose.

The exhibition is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm.
