Conservationist’s new book

AUTHOR Eric Hoyt

BRIDPORT author, Erich Hoyt, has released a new book, ‘Encyclopedia of Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises’.

Mr Hoyt is an author, conservationist and research fellow for Whale and Dolphin Conservation, based in the UK with offices across the world.

He moved to Bridport in August 2013. He is originally from Canada and the USA and has written 22 books on wildlife and science for both adults and children.

Mr Hoyt’s most recent book is based on his 40 plus years spent with whales and dolphins in the field, and is filled with stories of what it is like to study them.

Mr Hoyt said: “The book is, by coincidence, being published at the same time as Blue Planet II, and really could have been a companion book as it explores many of the same species.

“For me, the Encyclopedia of Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises was a chance to talk about the revolution in whale and dolphin studies since I began spending my summers with Orcas in 1973 off northern Vancouver Island, Canada.

“I wrote this book for anyone who wants to know more about these extraordinary, intelligent social mammals.”
