A35 closed for seven hours after four vehicle crash


THE road between Honiton and Axminster was closed for seven hours last night (Saturday, November 11th) after a crash that involved four vehicles.

The incident took place near Taunton Cross, the turning for Dalwood.

Two people in one of the vehicles involved had to be freed by the fire service.

All three of the emergency service were in attendance and a spokesperson for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said: “Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from Ambulance reporting a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A35 between Kilmington and Wilmington.

“Three fire appliance from Axminster, Seaton and Colyton was mobilised immediately by fire control.

“Crews promptly confirmed a four vehicle Road Traffic Collision. In three of the vehicles all persons were accounted for and released prior to the arrival of fire crews. Incident Commander confirmed two persons were confirmed trapped in the fourth vehicle.

“Crews got to work with hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools to release the casualty. Both casualties released from the vehicle and now in the hands of Paramedics who were on scene. Crews got to work making the vehicles safe and making up equipment.”

The incident too place just after 7pm.
